How long does a typical Reiki Session last?

Reiki sessions are usually booked as a 30-minute session or a 60-minute session, however on request 90-minute sessions can be made available.

What is involved in a Reiki treatment?

In person healing:

Usually I conduct Reiki on a Reiki couch (massage table). It is always your session so whatever you feel most comfortable with I work with that. Some people like to just relax, some even fall asleep and others like to ask questions throughout. Typically, it is a ‘hands off’ treatment, whereby my hands just ‘hover’ above your body. Occasionally I may ask to put ‘hands on’ your body, usually at your head, but will always make you aware of this and get your permission before hand. You are always fully clothed and if you wish you can bring a blanket and put it over the top of your body, so you feel cosy and safe. We will always begin the session with a ‘full body scan’, whereby I get you to stand up right and ‘scan’ your body for any energetic holds, then you will lie down for the session to begin. Once the session is over I will ask you to sit upright and we will ‘ground’ your energy and then discuss your treatment.

Distant healing:

Together we will agree a time and date for the Reiki healing to take place. You do not need to stop your normal day to day activities for the Reiki to work but some people like to get into a quiet space and meditate to see if they can ‘feel the energy’. Prior to the healing session I will get you to fill out a ‘new intake’ form in which you will detail ‘what’ you need healed and post the treatment I will mail you back with my findings. The only difference between In-person and distant healing is that you don’t get the opportunity to talk to me face to face. The Reiki works the same.

How will I feel during & after a treatment?

During the treatment some people ‘feel’ the energy, so a hot or cold sensation, tingling, vibrations, etc. Signs of release are things like, deep sighs, coughing, involuntary movements, some people will see colours, or certain images may appear to them. Others may simply experience nothing (this does not mean the Reiki is not working). If you want a detail description of ‘what to expect during the treatment, click here to get your free booklet. Reiki is a treatment that is like a ‘sieve’, in that it will bring up all the stagnant energy so that it can leave your body. If you are being ‘physically healed’ this may manifest as more intense pain for instance, as the Reiki works to rapidly heal. If it is an emotional healing, you may experience heightened emotions for the following days post treatment. Others may immediately feel the benefits with no ‘adverse’ side effects.

How will Reiki work in my life?

If used for physically healing the Reiki energy has the capability to completely heal your body. Sometimes however it may not. This is not to say the Reiki has not worked, but indeed that it will always work in your highest interest. We all have the ability to rid ourselves of our physical diseases, but the question must remain – do we have the right attitude, the courage to face our inner demons and the perseverance to keep going even when things seem hopeless? For instance maybe you have a broken bone and the Reiki healing does not appear to be healing that area, perhaps this is because you ‘need rest’ and had the bone ‘healed quickly’ you would not get the rest that your body so desperately craves and the ‘alone’ time to see that physical illness in whatever way it manifests in our lives does not change the perfection of that which lives within. In terms of emotional healing it can heal ‘your triggers’, so people or situations that you once reacted to will no longer hold the same power over your life. It can also create feelings of calmness, peace and a deep sense of ‘self’, having the ability to remove negative thinking patterns or behaviours, but one must also become consciously aware and see for themselves that emotions and thoughts in themselves cannot hold us prisoner.  So when asked, “Can Reiki cure my disease or emotional instability?” the true answer is – NO, it cures us of our restrictions and limitations and sets us and our soul free….giving us a truly deep, everlasting and powerful healing! A soul at peace is a true cure. Therefore, as a Reiki healer I always make it clear before we start a session that I do not know how the Reiki will manifest in your life, but it will always be in your highest interest.

Can Reiki Healers Diagnose Illness?

No! We are not medically trained and we will always recommend that you seek the advice of a medical practioner first and then use Reiki as a ‘complementary’ add on.

Can Reiki hurt me in anyway?

No! Reiki is the Divine Source of all creation, from which we are ALL made. It awakens us back to our ‘true self’ by gently removing that which no longer serves us in our lives, creates blockages and effectively creates the ‘amnesia’  from remembering who we really are.

What is the role of a healer?

“A healer is not someone that you go to for healing. A healer is someone that triggers within you, your own ability to heal yourself” – Unknown. And such is the role of a Reiki healer.
